Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer who is known for his distinctive mix of soul gospel jazz R&B and R&B. Her career path has taken her across Broadway to European events and clubs, and even to the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has the name Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she began her music career singing and playing the piano in the church. She went to Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship within the city's R&B scene. In 2005, Tyler Perry hired her as the primary keyboardist in the stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as the Choral Director for Dreamgirls the stage show in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine gained national recognition through her performances on four consecutive days at the Democratic National Convention. She was then invited to perform during President Obama's inaugural in 2009.
